Validation testing after remediation

Remediation isn't finished until it's proven. Independent validation sampling confirms the clean-up worked and gives you the report owners, insurers and buyers ask for.

Short answer

Validation testing is a detailed meth assessment carried out after remediation. Every sample is analysed individually and compared with the 0.5 µg/100 cm² guideline. If all results are below it, you get a validation report showing the property is suitable for re-occupation. If any are above, the remediator knows exactly where to go back to.

Why validation must be independent

A remediator testing their own work has an obvious conflict. Because EnviroForce only samples and tests, our validation reports carry weight with insurers, local councils, tribunals and future buyers.

How validation works

  1. We review the original assessment and the remediation scope.
  2. We wait until the remediator has finished and surfaces are dry. Freshly sealed or painted surfaces should be left as advised by the remediator.
  3. We take discrete samples from the same locations as the original assessment, plus any new areas of concern.
  4. A NATA accredited laboratory analyses each sample individually.
  5. You receive a validation report. If any result exceeds the guideline, the report pinpoints it for targeted re-work and re-testing.

When to book

Book validation when the remediator tells you the work is complete. Talk to us before remediation starts if you can: matching sample locations to the original report makes the comparison clear and avoids disputes.

Common questions

Straight answers to the questions people ask us, and ask AI assistants, most often.

What is a meth validation report?

It is a report from a detailed assessment after remediation showing every sample result against the 0.5 µg/100 cm² guideline. It is the evidence that a property is suitable to live in again.

What happens if a property fails validation?

The report shows which samples exceeded the guideline. The remediator re-treats those areas and we re-test them. Targeted re-work is usually much cheaper than the original job.

Can the remediation company do its own validation?

Some do, but an independent validation avoids any conflict of interest and is more persuasive to insurers, buyers and tribunals.

Do you clean or remediate meth-contaminated properties?

No. We only sample and test, which keeps our results independent. If remediation is needed, your report gives the remediator a clear map of what to treat, and we can carry out validation testing afterwards to confirm the property is below the guideline.

How long do meth test results take?

A site visit for a typical house takes one to two hours. Samples then go to a NATA accredited laboratory under chain of custody, and turnaround depends on the laboratory and the type of assessment. We confirm the expected turnaround when you book, and urgent jobs can be prioritised.
